things your boudoir photographer wants you to know

TRUST THE PROCESS

I know this seems easier said that done - but coming in to the session with an open mind and the willingness to step outside your comfort zone will ultimately give you the best overall experience! I promise you that it is not even a tenth as scary as you think it is in your head! I’m here to help you the entire time! From coaching facial expressions, to guiding poses and movement to making sure that everything is just right - you’ll feel comfortable and like you’re with an old friend from the moment you step into the studio! (If you need more reassurance check out some of my testimonials where every single woman says they thought they’d be nervous and then weren’t!)

YOU ARE WORTHY OF THIS EXPERIENCE

If you are a woman - you are a freaking badass goddess. I think ALL women are unsung heroes, and deserve every single good thing that life has to offer. Culturally and historically women have gone and continue to go through so much and the pressure, scrutiny and road blocks that we are faced with daily is overwhelming and needs to change. We are stronger when we are together and I want you to see yourself as the superhero that is within you. I want you to live your life to the fullest without body image blocks, confidence hang ups or judgement/comparison. Your uniqueness is special and needs to be shared and celebrated so regardless of the time in your life - the time is now to embrace YOU!

YOU DO NOT NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT

I will repeat this one again - YOU DO NOT NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT to do a shoot! Not 20 pounds, not 5 pounds. Come as you are right now and your future self with thank you. Think about looking back on photos of you from 5 or 10 years ago - do you wish you would have appreciated yourself more then? The answer is probably yes - and it will be the same for these images in 5 or 20 years. You will look back on these images and see yourself for the beautiful being that you are.

YOU ARE INCREDIBLY UNIQUE

No one is you, and that is your superpower. Whenever you have negative thoughts or self limiting beliefs, think about how you would talk to your best friend or your daughter/son. Think about how much your mind is hurting you when you speak or think negatively about yourself.

“If I asked you to name all the things that you love, how long would it take you to name yourself?”

STRETCH + EAT BREAKFAST

The week leading up to your shoot I want you to stretch and hydrate your body as much as possible! Even if you work out and are flexible, the poses the positions that I get you in to during the shoot use weird muscles that don’t get used all the time! So trust me when I say to do some (or a lot!) of cat / cows and neck rolls leading up to the shoot!

Being a model is hard work!!! You’ll underestimate how much energy it takes to be photographed, so please eat breakfast so that you feel energized, and have stamina for the entire shoot! Eating breakfast isn’t going to change the look of your images, but feeling/looking hangry definitely will!

DON’T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF

I’ve got you! You will be well informed from day one of booking! These sessions are very personal, and I believe that information and preparation helps quell nerves! From professional hair + makeup to use of my extensive client closet (I have over 500 pieces ranging from XS - 5X in all different styles, colors + brands) to personalized questionnaires, to how to prepare info, to pre-body/mind work to FaceTime pre-consults - believe me when I say I have you covered.

I’ve been photographing women for over 15 years now, and being a woman myself I know the thoughts, fears and stress that goes in to the unknown.
