Tofino Wedding Photographer

Tofino is incredible. I honestly do not think I’ve ever been somewhere so magical in my entire life. Every breath that I took felt like I was renewing my spirit and soul. The fact that I was able to document an incredible wedding day was even more fulfilling. I arrived in Tofino the day before the wedding to location scout and to take in some of the town’s beauty. I stopped at every beach and climbed up almost every rock to really soak in the Tofino experience. It was a breathtaking day, it was so sunny you could barely look out at the water because the sun was so blinding against the glassy waves. The trees glimmered with sunshine bursting through them and the air was warm and salty. I was sad that we might not have the grey moody day that Tahnee and I discussed would be awesome for the actual wedding day…

The day of Brandon + Tahnee’s wedding day was some of the most intense weather I have ever experienced; but that couldn’t bring them both down! I thought that I was a calm bride when it came to rain on my wedding day, but I didn’t hold a candle to Tahnee.  This girl wins the award for my most fearless, most badass bride in all my years of shooting weddings, and I can guarantee all the years to come. The day started out a bit rainy, and quickly escalated to a full blown windy, rainy, tumultuous stormy day! After the indoor ceremony I asked Tahnee and Brandon if they were still okay with doing photos outside, and Tahnee said that there was no question that we were doing them outside (Yay for my crazy like-minded brides + grooms – as it hadn’t even occurred to me that we should maybe stay inside to do photos). We stopped at the Rainforest first (I thought it might be semi sheltered from the rain…but I was wrong) and got out of the vehicle. Almost instantly they were both drenched as we made our way in to the forest. Trees were swaying, branches were breaking and the rain wasn’t subsiding. They were both TROOPERS as I made them pose in and amongst all the trees and hold each other close. Not once did they say they were cold or done with being outside! Brandon’s suit was a much darker blue than we started because it was so wet and his brand new shoes were covered in mud; Tahnee was dripping with rain and covered in goosebumps, but she had the biggest smile on her face as she threw her head up to the sky and said “I’ve never been happier in my life!”

The next spot I had chosen the wind was so intense that the umbrellas flipped inside out almost instantly, and I could barely look through my viewfinder to see the amazing couple withstanding the storm in front of me. We took a small break to dry out (they literally had to blow dry everything that they were wearing) before going down for dinner. In true Roz fashion, a few hours later I went to grab something from my car and noticed that the rain had subsided considerably, so I pulled the couple back outside for a few more photos and I am so happy I did! The photos that I took of Tahnee on the beach are some of the most peaceful and powerful images from the whole day. She is now my poster bride for how to fully enjoy your wedding day. She embodies a bride should embrace her wedding day – as one of the happiest, most incredible days of their lives! It shouldn’t matter if it pours rain, or is ridiculously hot, or if the cake gets forgotten, the wedding dress gets dirty or the countless other things that can go wrong that day! Your wedding day is a day to cherish your love for one another, and to be there to celebrate with your friends and family while having the time of your life. I am so honored and grateful to have been there to witness their love for one another and to have been able to capture so many amazing emotions from the day! So much love to you two and your families and thank you for choosing me to come to Tofino with you for your special day! xox
