Haida Gwaii Elopement Photographer

Holy moly, words can not even begin to describe how incredible this elopement was. Stephanie is one of the kindest human beings on the planet and Dane is such a wonderful match for her! When she told me that they were eloping in Haidi Gwaii, and that they wanted me to do their photos I was over the moon! I am obsessed with the ocean, and have heard wonderful things about the Haida Gwaii. I was ecstatic to being able to go and explore everywhere and have willing models to take photos of!

There were only 6 people who knew about their elopement, so it was so special to be a part of it all. The week leading up to the wedding, there were crazy storms and so much rain. The forecast was saying we would get a clear day (although I learned after that it is never correct). We decided to do their first look by the ocean at sunrise, and minutes before we were about to leave the skies opened and down came the rain. We panicked for a second and thankfully the rain stopped minutes later and was absolutely stunning the entire day! (As a side note, the island at end of October is notorious for torrential downpours, so we were so lucky to have a beautiful and clear day!).

Elopements are seriously so special when you can just have the whole day to do you! We explored all over their property, and had so much fun changing up hair and makeup and taking photos everywhere! So great that when we needed a break, we went in to get warm and have lunch, then we went out. The day was absolute perfection, and really made me realize the simplicity, ease and stress-free nature of eloping!

First looks by the ocean at sunrise? YES PLEASE! 

We location scouted the day before the wedding and when I saw this ceremony spot, I was overwhelmed with emotion. Being in a quiet forest, with trees as high as you can see, and the sound of a creek bubbling in the background was so magical. The way the light was streaming through the trees and the way Steph and Dane read their vows to one another was so so beautiful. 

After a short little break we went back to the ocean (because how could you not?)
