Tyler + Emily Stanley Park Surprise Proposal

You might say their love was deeper than any ocean. Two kindred spirits, bound by a passion that reached the depths of the sea. So naturally, it seemed entirely fitting to capture their story on the beach, while the waves crashed on the shore, like their souls colliding. But what Emily didn’t know was that their souls, although already connected, were about to take a leap into a new chapter with four simple words. With an energy that could be felt for miles, Emily and Tyler took to the outdoors to share their love with Rozalind; a private moment that any person would feel privileged to take part in. Emily had longed to have beautiful photographs of her and Tyler to capture their own little fairytale. Especially considering that they spend much of their time apart; Emily living in New York City attending school to complete her Bachelors of Science, while Tyler resides in Vancouver working for a steel company. Tyler had went to Rozalind to tell her that he planned on proposing to Emily during this photoshoot, but like a proper gentleman, knew to wait until the very end, as to not ruin her makeup when she cried. So through the forest Rozalind followed, carrying the most beautiful secret and capturing pictures of the moments leading up to its undoing. The forecast had called for rain, but it held off, and by the time the couple reached the beach, the clouds made for the perfect light. It not only highlighted every last stitch on Emily’s hand-sewn dress, but also the look on her face as Tyler got down on one knee. Girls dream of this day from a young age and this was no exception. A dream coming true. He asked, and she instantly put both of her hands over her heart, as if subconsciously saying that it was already his entirely. And with the one word answer that guys wait with bated breath to hear, Tyler and Emily’s novel began another chapter. Perhaps they didn’t know that when they met at a Christmas party, they would wind up on a beach on a cloudy day starting a life together. But that is how all great love stories begin; with something as mysterious as the ocean, yet as certain as the tide coming in.

Kris + Tyler Ski Winter Engagement

What do you get when you find two people who love skiing as much as they love one another? Lots of laughs, lots of snow and lots of colorful ski gear! Kris + Tyler absolutely love skiing together, and it was so cute hearing them talk about their different gear that they love, and all the different places in the world that they want to ski (Japan being the next on their list!) I loved that throughout the whole session, they had so much fun together! They tried to poke each other with their ski rods, they threw snow at one another, and they had no problem trekking through piles of snow up to our knees to get to a good spot! I know they will lead an exciting, adventure filled life together and I wish them both the very best!

Kelly + Colin Tranquille Creek Engagement

Kelly and Colin are that adorable couple who have been dating since high school, and are still just as in love as they were 10 years ago! Colin purposed to Kelly on Christmas day two years ago- so they have had lots of time to plan their ideal wedding. I’m so excited to see the individual touches that Kelly has in store: she has expressed that she would love the tables to be adorned with peacock and ostrich feathers, and a bountiful amount of deep purple and turquoise for the colours. I love it when my brides have their own unique vision for their wedding day and they come up with ideas that are completely special to the two of them. I love how Colin is so thoughtful and attentive towards his bride to be. He proposed while they were on a family vacation to Mexico, and he had decided to give her a ring that had been in his family for years. He had his sister safe keep it for the journey and on the day that he proposed he stopped at a local vendor in Mexico to buy an oyster shell and put the ring in the shell before he proposed. He knew how much Kelly loves diamonds, and that she would love something that was meant just for her, so when they returned home, he had another, special engagement ring just for her! What a keeper! Can not wait to photograph their wedding this summer! So much love to you both!

Scott + Ashley Winter Snow Engagement

It seems like so long ago that we had this much snow in the mountains, but I was so glad to have it looking like a perfect Winter wonderland for this adorable engagement session! I could not be happier for these two to be getting married as they’ve been together for years, and are now living together and going to University in Ontario! Scott is such a funny guy and I’ve had the pleasure of photographing him in another wedding and was delighted to photograph him and his fiancee! Ashley is not only beautiful, but she’s also one of the sweetest people ever! She is tall and stunning, and she has the most wonderful beaming smile when Scott cracks jokes! These two are so cute together, and so in love that I barely had to tell them to snuggle in together to keep warm in the cold surroundings. There is something so inviting about a cold winter day to really warm a session up! Can’t wait for these two lovebirds to tie the knot! So much love to you both! xo
After I made them throw snow everywhere I figured I should be nice, so we went inside by the Christmas tree so that they could cuddle and warm up!

Tiana + Craig Winter Engagement Session

Tiana + Craig are so wonderfully amazing! Although they were a tad nervous for their shoot, they allowed me to choose the location, and said they were okay with the snow and the outdoors (so we definitely did the outdoors! – I think at one point we were in snow up to our knees! and they didn’t complain once!!!) When Tiana stepped out of the truck I immediately thought she was a Snow White look alike! Her flawless pale skin, beautiful dark hair and stunning green eyes were perfection against the snowy hillside, and with cute Craig by her side these two couldn’t take a bad photo! We had the bonus entertainment of watching their dog bounce around and chase after snow! I can not wait for their September wedding – it’s going to be such an amazing day! This above image totally describes my session with these two. They were all laughs, giggles, and smiles throughout our entire session together even though it was a chilly and windy Vancouver day (although at least it didn’t pour rain for us!) I am so excited for these two to be married next year because I have photographed Mike at several wedding over the past few years and am now so thrilled to be a part of he and Lisa’s wedding celebrations! Mike asked Lisa to marry him in such an adorable way too – they were in Mexico and Mike had put together a whole slideshow of their friends and family back home writing out super cute messages to her, and then at the end he said that although they all loved her and that she deserved a nice vacation, there was another reason they came on the trip – and then he was down on one knee proposing! I can barely handle the cuteness of their story and between the two of them and I’m so excited to be a part of their day! So much love to you both! xo

Corinna + Tony have a super cute love story, and it involves meeting one another while camping with mutual friends – so naturally for their engagement session we decided to incorporate a camping-like lake situation to re-ignite the spark that they first felt for one another :) Cori has the absolute biggest and most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen, you can’t help but smile when you see it and Tony’s quiet, affectionate nature lends well to Cori’s exuberant personality! These two are having their wedding at Silver Star in Vernon next year (and I’m so excited to finally shoot a wedding there, and couldn’t ask for a better couple to share shooting in a new place with!) Deena + Shawn are so amazingly adorable as a couple! I’ve known Deena for a long time now, as she and my sister grew up together loving horses, and the outdoors. When I first met Shawn I knew he was such a great match for Deena. He is also an outdoorsy guy, and has this endearing demeanor about him. What I loved most was every time he gave her a little sideways glance or smile, her smile would get even bigger (if that’s even possible) and the would just radiate love and respect for one another! Deena has the most incredible smile and it’s hard not to smile too just looking at her! They have the most incredible property right outside their back door in Salmon Arm. so it was only fitting to check it out and do a few preliminary shots there – and wow, it’s exactly like a FernGully enchanted forest! I love that these two are up for anything, and I can not wait for their wedding next year! So much love to you both! xo
