TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS FAR + WIDE KAMLOOPS

Far + Wide is a home and lifestyle retail shop in downtown Kamloops. We stock small batch, local, and handpicked products from coast to coast and host creative workshops in our in-store studio space. You can find us – and lots of beautifully curated items – at 167 4th ave.
HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN BEING A SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR WHILE STILL HAVING BALANCE IN YOUR LIVES?

Bri: Balance? haha
Calli: Success? haha
In all honesty, there isn’t a lot of balance running – or at least starting – your own business. Sometimes our families suffer, sometimes we suffer, and sometimes we even resent the shop a bit. Then we get back to doing the work! WHAT DO YOU LOVE MORE ABOUT BEING BOSS BABES AND WORKING FOR YOURSELVES?

Bri: We’re building something that is building than us, it impacts local makers and the community around us, instead of just collecting a paycheque.
Calli: Doing this business our way – for better or worse sometimes – is so rewarding.  HOW DO YOU HELP WOMEN OVERCOME THEIR INSECURITIES/HOW DO YOU HELP EMPOWER THE WOMEN AROUND YOU?

Bri+Calli: Working with local artisans and creatives, many of whom are women, is really rewarding. The small female-owned business that supply our goods, the local ladies we work with on creative ventures, and fabulous female focused groups in town – like the Steminists, a girl gang of local teens entering STEM fields – are all so wonderful. We are surrounded by bad ass boss babes daily and their power is contagious. We all boost each other up!
IF YOU COULD GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELVES A PIECE OF ADVICE WHAT WOULD IT BE? 

Bri: Your choices don’t define you, you can always change your mid and by extension your circumstances
Calli: Don’t worry about what people think about you . It’s really none of your business anyway.
WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU DO TO OVERCOME FEAR?

Bri: I’m more afraid not to try something that of anything in particular
Calli: I like to think of the worst case scenario to dispel all of the terrible things my mind defaults to.

Bri: You have great eyes!
Calli: You’re the funniest person I know!
