I’ve known Dominic since I was five years old and was best friends with his sister (and still am!) I love their family as though it were my own, and I’ve always considered Dominic like another younger brother (which means we used to terrorize one another when I would be at their house – we were always playing silly pranks on one another!) Since those days long ago, I’ve been able to see Dominic grow up to become a strapping young man! He and Samantha (his wonderful long time girlfriend, and now fiancee :) are so incredibly cute together! You can just tell when they are in the presence of one another that their energy’s compliment each other, and that they absolutely adore each other! Because I had moved away from Barriere right after graduation I didn’t get the chance to really get to know Sam until now – and what a delight she is! She’s one of those really kind people who enjoys her life, her friends and her family. She’s always smiling and has a calm demeanor, one that seems wise beyond her years! I see great things for their future because they share so many of the same values and it warms my heart to see how right they are for one another! Even though Dominic is a little bit more of a reserved, country boy, he was willing to do any of our cutesy ideas and went along with them like a true gentleman! I know I comment on guys stepping outside of their manly comfort zone for photo sessions a lot, but it’s because it shows such compromise and so much love for their lady. I think it is a true testament for a great relationship when a guy is confident enough to loosen up and be cheesy for something that will make the love of his life super happy! And it does! You can see that amazing, unbelievably happy glow on Sam’s face in every photo, they are just so wonderful together that it makes me happy just looking at them! Not to mention the amazing setting for the photos: the family’s farm is the most gorgeous place to be – sprawling fields, no houses for miles, idyllic streams, lush forests, horses and picturesque dirt roads. This couple, paired with this amazing setting, is a photographers dream come true, and I can’t wait to share in their love for one another next summer! Congratulations you two love birds!
When Brandi and I first met, I knew almost instantly that we were going to get along famously! We shared a love for piercings (she is a super rad piercer!), tattoos and all things random! We didn’t just talk about her wedding, we talked about everything and anything, and when I left our meeting I knew I had made a new friend whether she and Mike were going to choose me as their wedding photographer or not, and I’m so glad they did because their wedding celebration is going to be a blast! If their engagement session was any indication of how supremely awesome their day will be, I cannot wait! Usually when you think old, decrepit buildings and abandoned warehouses, you don’t think ‘engagement session,’ but when I passed the idea over to Brandi and Mike they were on board for any, and all, of my crazy, unconventional ideas! And I couldn’t be happier with the results! What I love most about these two is something that I see in myself – a hard and soft quality that resides in us all that maybe some people are a little more hesitant to outwardly show, but that these two are definitely proud of! I go back and forth with whether or not I should keep my facial piercings, or whether or not my next tattoos will be in a more public spot or not, but something Brandi said to me really struck true to me: she said, that you shouldn’t be worried about having a visible tattoo or piercing, but that you should just worry about getting something that you know you will love and that’s all that matters! And it’s so true! I love the juxtaposition of these old, falling apart buildings, with their dressy outfits (and her 6″ heels in the snow – fashion over function, I love it!) but still showcasing their awesome piercings and tattoos! I loved that we managed to capture a broad spectrum of what these two are all about, because mostly they are all about having fun! Anytime I said, “just be yourselves, and pretend like I’m not here” – they both got the biggest grins on their faces and I had to work to keep up with all the laughter, the picking up & spinning around, the headlocks, the tickling, and the exploring like little kids! These two have such immense personalities and their fun loving goofiness makes everyone around them smile! The way that Mike looks at Brandi is with such adoration, and I absolutely melt inside when gentlemen are up for any cutesy photos us girls like to pull off! Because it was Valentine’s Day, I showed up with heart balloons, wood heart figures and a sparkly heart on a stick for some fun, mushy inspired photos and Mike (the gem) didn’t even bat an eye. These two are just so much fun to be around and I was so honored to spend my Valentine’s Day with them celebrating in their love! I absolutely cannot wait for your wedding and to celebrate what a fun day it will be! xo
We had no choice but to check out the inside of these abandoned buildings right? Super creepy and doesn’t really mesh with this particular outfit, but it was so random that we couldn’t not take a photo in there! (and so smelly that we didn’t want to go back in once we did change outfits!)

Randomly enough, Ali and I went to Kindergarten together many moons ago, and she moved to Kamloops shortly after, so of course at that young age, we lost touch – years later my dad (who loves talking and asking questions as much as I do) was doing some work with her dad, and found out Ali was getting married. He gave her my business card and a few days later we were re-connecting and excitedly talking about her wedding! I am so happy to have rekindled with a long lost friend, and hope to become even better friends now that I get to be a part in her important day! When Ali & Travis said they wanted to do their engagement session at an ice skating rink, I was so excited! Hockey and skating are such great Canadian pastimes, and Trav plays in a hockey league, and they both enjoy watching the Canucks, so it seemed like a perfect fit to make our way down to the rink for their photos! The staff at the McArthur Island Sports Centre in North Kamloops were awesome about us using the rink, and even found us a spot where no skaters were to have some fun on the ice! Because it was BC’s first Family Day, there were a lot of skaters enjoying their family time, so we were lucky to get some great shots in both rinks! Ali & Travis are as unbelievably sweet and adorable as they look in this blog post! Travis was willing to do any crazy, adorable, and cutesy photos that Ali and I had in mind, and he was such a gentleman helping tie Ali’s skates, running back to the truck when we forgot things, and overall just being such a great sport! (Did I mention that he’s also a good looking guy with a great smile and charismatic personality?) Then there is Ali, who is such a stunner – her skin is like creamy butter and I was mesmerized with how incredibly beautiful she is both physically and as a person! She has a movie star smile and a humble personality which makes her a top notch person to be around! These two have such kind hearts, and you can see instantly that their love for one another runs deep. I was so fortunate to spend the day with them, having way too much fun, and I absolutely cannot wait for their summer wedding! It’s going to be such a great day and I am even more excited to be able to spend it with these two amazing people!

When I first met Megan I was instantly impressed with how incredibly organized she was! She was in mega-wedding planning mode, and had ideas, color schemes, and great questions already all lined up! I absolutely LOVE working with couples to create a unique engagement session that really speaks to them both, because it will mean more to them in the years down the road. Not to say when couples don’t have ideas it’s not great (because then I get be super creative :) but Megan and Steve had the most amazing idea ever! They both love the movies (and of course movie popcorn and 3D movies!) and they were wanting to do their photos at the theater! They had already spoken with the manager (who was AWESOME!!! Carmen you were unbelievably amazing and I’m so grateful for how wonderful you were to us!) at the Paramount Landmark Cinemas in downtown Kamloops, who had agreed to let us use the theater before it opened for the photos! We had SO much fun goofing around, eating popcorn, watching fake movies and pulling some cheesy movie moves (like the old yawn, put your arm around the girl trick!) Carmen even went so far as to change the Marquee for these two to showcase their names and the date of their wedding! I love the energy between Megan & Steve and how they are together! It’s effortless and adorable. They always seem super relaxed, up for anything and so cute with one another, which makes capturing wonderful moments between them that much easier for me :) I had so much fun during your engagement session and I love that you were both up for anything!!! I cannot wait until your wedding day to have even more fun with you both and with your wedding party!!! xo
HUGE THANKS TO : Carmen at Paramount Landmark Cinemas
Valerie is one of my very best friends, and we are both so fortunate to say that we are one another’s oldest friends! We became best friends from the first day we met one another in Kindergarten, and we have been inseparable ever since! I feel so incredibly lucky to have her and my other 3 friends from grade school still as my best friends today. We’ve been through absolutely everything together, and we all know one another almost as well as we know ourselves. We all have such different personalities, and we have all grown in to unique individuals, but one thing that will never change is no matter how far apart we are in the world, or how long we go without talking, we will always be there for one another when we are in need. When I decided to move to Kamloops we were all finally back together in the same place since high school. After graduation I had moved to Vancouver and traveled about, Val had lived in Switzerland and had gone to teach English in Korea, Sarah was off galavanting around the world for years, Robyn moved back and forth from one place to another, and Sara had also traveled around and was always up to something new; but after 8 years of exploring we were all miraculously in the same place again, and it was wonderful! When Val and Gavin were dating, I was working at Flight Centre when Gavin asked for my help in finding him a plane ticket to go and visit Val in Korea. They had been dating quite seriously for some time and we had never seen Val so happy. She had always been the one to be a bit more reserved about boys, and never came across as boy crazy (as we all were at some point or another), but when she met Gav’s, we could tell something was different. She was excited to move in with him, she always had something cute to say about him, and she seemed so genuinely happy. I loved that he had the same down to earth values and personality that Val did, and he treated her with such love and respect – plus, you could tell from the sparkle in his eye that he was crazy about her. When he called me to say he wanted to go to Korea I knew I had to sit down with him and find out his true intentions with my best friend. I made sure he had a long layover in Vancouver en route to Seoul so that we could go for some drinks and I could grill him on his future plans with her! We ended up having such a lovely time and there was no need for hard questions because I was sure of his feelings for Val by the wonderful way he talked about her, their future together, and his undeniable love for her! I was more sure than ever after having more one on one time with him that he was the perfect fit for my friend. Not long after she returned from Korea, they were engaged, and all of us girls were so excited to finally celebrate the first one of us to get married. I was so happy to be able to photograph their engagement session and we had so much fun trekking through the snow, finding amazing spots and doing fun poses (Gavin was such a good sport with all of the cheesy poses!! I can’t believe we got him to spell out LOVE with is hands and do a heart shape for a photo – sorry for posting them!!! :) I love these two people with all my heart and I couldn’t have been happier for them when they got married this past summer! I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you lovelies!!! xox
As I was looking through old hard drives the other night I found an old photo of Amy and Jeremy that I took from a party we all attended probably in Grade 11 or so, and it made me so happy to see how far they’ve come as a couple since then! I’ve known Jeremy almost as long as I’ve known Amy and it’s amazing how little they’ve changed as a couple since I first met them way back when. They both still have so much fun together – Jeremy has always been really easy going, relaxed and professional, and Amy is always the source of energy wherever she is! Her ability to make anyone laugh, to speak her mind and to be as spontaneous as she wants, are all gifts of someone who marches to the beat of her own drum! Of course they have changed a lot in some major ways – they are a lot more mature than we all were back then (let’s hope at least!) they have since gotten engaged, and are now married (see their big day here) Jeremy is a successful and unbelievably AMAZING realtor here in town (check him out, seriously he’ amazing! Jeremy Reid) and Amy is finishing her schooling to soon combine it with her incredible personality to do social work! Power couple on the loose for sure! What I love most about the two of them is how they continue to be the couple to look up to. They push one another to be the best that they can be, and they are always having fun together, looking at one another with as much love as they had for each other way back in high school. I love that I’ve been able to witness your continued support and love for one another after all of these years, and I am so thankful that you chose me to document your big day and to share in your love! I am so excited for your future together, and to watch your beautiful family, that I’m sure you will soon have together, grow! xoxo
Jordi & Tanner are one of the most adorable couples I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing! You can see how comfortable and how much fun they have around one another, and how undeniably amazing they are together! We managed to get one of the last really hot, muggy days of the summer for our shoot, which is maybe why you can feel the heat between them in their photos, or maybe why they were both so willing to go in the river when I suggested it! Jordi is a little ball of energy, and her beautiful spirit shines through her smile in every single photo! Tanner is a little more reserved but such a great sport, with such a kind demeanor – usually when I suggest doing really cutesy stuff the guys kind of groan, but Tanner was so great because he could see how happy and excited it made Jordi. These two are unfairly cute together which totally makes my job so much easier and so much more fun! We all laughed when I was like “how about you crawl under the baseball stands over there?” and they’d both look at me like, you’re serious? and then I’d say, “how about you two climb up on the rafters under the Red Bridge?” Without even talking about it, they’d look at one another and be like sure!!! These two were up for anything I suggested, which is a huge reason I’m so excited to photograph their wedding this fall, it’s going to be a good one :) xo

I met Trista & Ken through one of my Wedding posts on the good old internet and when we finally got to meet in person I was super excited to be a part of their day because of how laid back they were together, and how much love they had for one another! I also fell in love with their love story! They met one another at the campsite at Lundbom Lake, just outside of Merritt, BC and decided that would be the perfect spot to seal their marriage vows and have their ceremony and party afterwards – so romantic and memorable. It was beautiful being right by the lake, and although it was a little chilly with the wind, the rain held off until just after we finished the last photos! (Yay weather gods!) Trista and Ken have a big happy family together, and as you can see the boys were such characters throughout the day, and were so much fun to follow around, snapping photos of while they waited for the bride to walk down the aisle! The sisters were just as much fun to photograph, the littlest one was such a living doll and the older sisters were graceful and loving. As it always is with a good friend hosting the ceremony, there are always bound to be lots of laughs, personal stories, and touching moments! I loved how every time Trista looked at Ken she was beaming, she had the most beautiful smile from ear to ear, and Ken was no different, gazing lovingly at his new bride. My favorite part of the day was taking their heavy duty 4×4 truck to a special spot up a mountain, behind the lake, where they had gone many times before, to do the photos of just the two of them. The sprawling fields overlooked Merritt and made for a picture perfect opportunity of the two of them. It was a beautiful day filled with lots of friends, and lots of love, and I was so glad to be a part of such an intimate wedding day! xo
